Whitefish and the surrounding area offers a plethora of off-road biking opportunities with options for all abilities. The Whitefish Trail is a community effort with seven trailheads all within a few miles of town. The trail offers 26 miles of riding with options best suited for the cross-country rider.
Whitefish Mountain Resort is also close to town offering nearly thirty miles of lift accessed biking. While riding the resort, try the Summit Trail for an intermediate option or many other free-ride options best suited for expert riders.
Whitefish Mountain Resort also offers rentals, lessons and a beginner area for those new to the sport.
Even more riding opportunities can be found in neighboring Flathead National Forest trails which are open for two-wheeled use. Check in at the Ranger Station in Kalispell to learn about regulations and a get a trail map of the National Forest.
Most trails are best accessed from the town of Whitefish. Whitefish Mountain Resort is a short drive away and the Whitefish Trail has multiple trailheads all close to town.
The closest trailhead to town is Lion Mountain and is only about a mile from Grouse Mountain Lodge reached via highway MT-93. The Flathead National Forest surrounds the entire region and information is available in Kalispell at the Ranger Station.
